Back to School Bash

An annual back to school event hosted by SUMC in mid-August each year at the Little Salt River Park. All children who will be entering grades K-5 are invited. The bash includes a hot dog meal w/homemade cookies, snow cones, popcorn, a photo booth, music, school supplies for the first 200 children who register, and much, much more. Volunteers are always needed; details will be posted as the event approaches.

Book/Bible Study

Wednesdays: 10:00 – 11:30 am from September through May and occasionally during the summer. A new study begins approximately every six weeks. Meets in the SUMC library. Bible study is an in-person event, but is available by Zoom if needed. The link to join is available in the Weekly Newsletter tab on the Home page of this website.


Nutrition Club

Every other Friday during the school year, food bags are distributed to local elementary school students. The need for transporting food bags from Mt. Pleasant to Shepherd continues.  These bags are then distributed to children who could benefit from extra and  convenient food over the weekends.

Clothing Inc.

Thursdays 9:00 – 1:00. Other time slots are available.

The purpose of Clothing Inc. is to provide free, high-quality clothing to anyone in need. Housed in the Strickler Center in Mt. Pleasant, this volunteer organization meets a need for local residents. SUMC volunteers provide assistance with sorting donations, stocking clothing, and shopping with clients, among other things each Thursday.

Free Community Soup Suppers


Second Wednesday of each month, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.

On the second Wednesday of each month, SUMC hosts a free soup supper which is open to ALL community members. A simple meal of soup, salad, bread, and dessert is served from 5 – 6:30 p.m. in the Musser Fellowship Hall of SUMC. A donation of a non-perishable item(s) which will be donated to the St. Vincent food pantry is suggested. Volunteers are needed to provide food, to serve the meal, and to clean-up after. In addition, a volunteer is needed to transport items donated to the St. Vincent food pantry.
